Utah Indians: Still here
JULY 25, 2000

Indian residents of Utah proudly proclaimed their continued existence by holding the Native American Celebration.

The celebration is a response to the Pioneer Days in Utah. It is held July 24th in the same park that holds the festivities for Pioneer Days.

Originally the festival was designed to commemorate Dineh culture, but now it encompasses a wide variety of Indian tribes. The festival reminds people of Utah that Indian people "...are still here...," one organizer said.
