Study: Tribes' campaign contributions unreported

JUNE 6, 2000 The California Common Cause filed a report with the California Fair Political Practices Commission, a political watchdog commission, saying that Gov. Gray Davis failed to report nearly $170,000 in campaign contributions from various gaming tribes in the state. The study says Davis failed to report $100,000 in 1998 and $13,176 in 1997 from the Cabazon Band of Mission Indians, $50,000 in 1998 from the 29 Palms Band of Mission Indians, and $6,000 from the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians. Iin total, the study reports that $972,352 in gambling related money went unreported in the years it conducted a study, from 1995 to 1998. Get the Story:
