Tribes seek Gore Bush

JUNE 1, 2000

The National Indian Gaming Association is hoping presidential candidates George W. Bush and Al Gore will accept their invitation to participate in a special meeting to be scheduled this summer. The Phoenix meeting will play host to more than 1,000 tribal leaders.

An earlier attempt to have both candidates speak to tribal leaders failed when neither showed up to a meeting sponsored by the American Indian Chamber of Commerce of New Mexico. Only Green Party candidate Ralph Nader participated via satellite.
