Racism hearings planned this summer

The US Commission on Civil Rights on Friday gave its support to a series of hearings on racism against Alaska Natives that are scheduled to begin in July or August at locations throghout Alaska.

The meetings will be conducted by a state advisory committee. Some members of the full US Commission may attend.

The Alaska Federation of Natives has been pushing for the meetings in light of a number of recent racial incidents and crimes.
