MAY 3, 2000 Washington state police deny using racial profiling while making stops. But a report released by the State Patrol indicates different arrest and citation rates for whites and Native Americans. About 24 percent of whites stopped by police received arrests or citations, compared to 31 percent of Native Americans. The State Police Chief said the figures deserve a closer look and the rates are different due to other reasons, but not racial profiling. Get the Story:
