Tribal leaders named to mascot commission

MAY 12, 2000 Carl McKay, former chair of the Spirit Lake Tribal Council and Jesse Taken Alive, Fort Yates Tribal Councilman, have been named to the University of North Dakota's commission studying the school's "Fighting Sioux" nickname. UND President Charles Kupchella added the two, responding to complaints that tribal governments were not represented. Get the Story:
