Racism forum held in Alaska

In response to a number of racially-tinged incidents involving Alaska Natives, a forum on racism was held in Anchorage on Sunday.

The Anchorage Daily News reported that about 100 to 150 people attended the session. The paper said most were Native.

Governor Tony Knowles has called on the state for tougher hate crimes laws after a two White teenagers and one White adult videotaped themselves attacking Alaska Natives with a paint-ball gun.
