Man prevented from using peyote
MAY 10, 2001

A judge in Utah on Wednesday ruled that a self-proclaimed medicine man can't use peyote because he is not Indian.

Nicholas Stark was arrested last July after authorities uncovered 10 pounds of peyote buttons at an alleged Native American Church ceremony. He says he is Iroquois, but says he has no proof.

Another Utah man has been charged in a similar incident.
