APRIL 6, 2001

Contrary to rumours running wild on the Internet, the Gathering of Nationa is not canceled, said organizer Melonie Mathews said Thursday.

Mathews told The Albuquerque Journal that she has spent the week responding to e-emails and phone calls telling people the nation's largest pow-wow is still happening. The rumour started with an e-mail sent out on April Fool's Day, Indian Country's favorite trickster holiday.

So pack your bags. Gathering is only 20 days away. It will be once again held in The Pit in Albuquerque, New Mexico, April 27-28.

Celebrities attending include: Wes Studi, Irene Bedard, Ulali, Robert Mirabal, Clan/destine, Star Nayea, and the Love Monster.
