EDITORIAL: Mascot statement powerful

In an editorial today, The Sioux Falls Argus Leader says the US Commission on Civil Rights made a "powerful statement" when it condemned the use of American Indians as macots.

The paper says the Commission's statement will help contribute to debate on the issue. A number of local schools are considering if their portrayals and use of Indian stereotypes are offensive.
