EDITORIAL: Pequot proposal a good start

APRIL 10, 2001 In an editorial today, Lance C. Johnson, managing editor of The New London Day, says a proposal offered by the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation is a good start to resolving questions that still need to be answered. Johnson says the proposal doesn't address finality on the land-into-trust issue, which is what the leaders of three neighboring towns have asked for. But he says it should allow the parties to encourage trust and move forward with future discussions. Johnson has been criticized by readers for not outright opposing the tribe. Get the Story:
