APRIL 10, 2001 In an editorial today, The New London Day says a proposal offered by the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation doesn't promote trust with the local community. The paper says the proposal doesn't address future land-into-trust issues. For now, the tribe wants three neighboring towns not to challenge a plan to take 465 acres of land into trust, including one that is the subject of litigation, but the paper says the issue of limits should be discussed. The paper also says future discussions about the issue should be held in public. Get the Story:
