Radio a powerful voice in Indian Country
FEBRUARY 5, 2001

The power of radio is being felt all across Indian Country, from the new radio station of the Hopi Tribe of Arizona to the nationally broadcast program Native America Calling.

A number of radio stations, like the Hopi's KUYI-FM, broadcast in native languages, hoping to keep them from disappearing. Most provide news, music by Native musicians, or just a forum where Native issues can be discussed with others throughout the country.
