Community horrified by attacks on Natives

Community leaders in Anchorage, Alaska, are expressing horror about the actions of three teenagers who targeted Alaska Natives with racial slurs and a paintball gun.

Julie Kitka, executive director of the Alaska Federation of Natives, said the teens' actions were representative of an undcurrent of racism against Natives. She sent a letter to the US Civil Rights Commission, asking them to investigate.

The three teens have not yet been charged with a crime. The state has no hate law crime.
