FEBRUARY 22, 2001 In an editorial today, The New London Day says the Eastern Pequot Tribe and the Connecticut town of North Stonington should come to a compromise over how the town has spent taxpayer dollars on fighting the tribe's recognition effort. The state will hold a hearing to address the freedom of information act requests of Mark Sebastian, vice chairman of the tribe. The town has refused to give up some of its documents, citing attorney-client privilege. Instead of going through with the hearing, the paper says the two should come to an agreement about the issue.
