'Squaw' bill moves forward

FEBRUARY 2, 2001

The Indian Affairs Council on Thursday endorsed a tribally-supported bill that will eliminate "squaw" from over 90 public place names in Idaho.

The proposal will move on to the Senate for consideration. Other states, including Maine and Montana have passed similar legislation.
