Robert Johnson, manager of Grand Casino Mille Lacs, has warned former Minnesota Vikings coach Bud Grant to stay away from the casino this weekend.

Grant is a member of Proper Economic Resource Management (PERM), a group which has opposed the treaty rights of Mille Lacs Ojibwe Tribe, the owners of the casino. The tribe took their case to the Supreme Court, who in 1999 upheld their off-reservation hunting and fishing rights.

Johnson called up the executive vice president of the Vikings and told him that the general feeling on the reservation is that Grant is not welcome there. The casino is hosting a snowmobile rally featuring current and former Vikings personalities but Grant has said he wasn't planning on staying there anyway.
