Hispanic Pueblo tradition continues

The centuries old tradition known as Los Matachines continues in northern New Mexico Pueblo and Hispanic communities this Christmas season.

The meaning of the dance varies by community. The date of the first performance also varies, with some saying it was written in the late 1700s but other saying its as old as 500 years.
