A federal judge in New York on Wednesday approved a $1.25 billion settlement Holocaust survivors filed against Swiss banks but some say its not enough

Of the amount, $800 million will go to compensate persons whose money was deposited in Swiss banks during World War II but never recovered it. No evidence had been found that the banks conspired to keep or steal money, but they were criticized for poor record keeping.

Swiss banks next year will publish the names of about 26,000 accounts believed to be those of Holocaust victims. Claimants must prove a link to the account.

Another amount, $350 million, is designated for refugees who were denied entrance into or expelled from Switzerland. people who were forced into slave labor for companies with Swiss accounts, and people whose possessions were stolen by Nazis and ended up in Swizterland.
