Letter: Reject Pequot proposal
WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 3, 2001

"It is interesting that the [Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation] now acknowledges “impacts” on the community and “inequities” that exist — not for them, but for us. All these factors — inequities, impacts and the lack of need to place additional land into trust — cry out for a just and firm decision.

Reject the tribe's proposal. End these meetings, and give the public and the media the reasons why. No group of United States citizens, whatever they are called, should be allowed to terrorize other U.S. citizens with uncertainty, and erosion of their towns using “special status” as their weapon."
