TUESDAY, OCTOBER 2, 2001 "We weren't asked to comment for the Sept. 24 article regarding a U.S. District Court ruling in the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe constitutional dispute, but we believe there are several issues News readers should understand that were not covered in the story. The tribal council believes that an appeal of the court's ruling would be successful. Yet, the tribe is not a party to the federal court litigation and therefore is not in a position to appeal the ruling. However, we have a responsibility to respond to what we believe are profound flaws in the proposed constitution. . ." Get the Story:
