Farm nominee doubted at hearing

The Senate Agriculture Committee on Wednesday held a hearing into the nomination of Department of Agriculture nominee Thomas Dorr.

Democrats on the panel said there were problems with the way his family exploited farm subsidies. Dorr denied doing anything wrong although his family was forced to repay the the department $17,000.

Dorr also said comments he made linking racial homogeneity with economic success have been taken out of context.
