THURSDAY, MARCH 21, 2002 Former independent counsel Robert Ray on Wednesday released his final report on the scandal which nearly brought down the presidency of Bill Clinton. Ray says there isn't enough evidence to show that Bill and Hillary lied or obstructed justice during the course of the investigation. The probe centered on a land and loan deal the Clintons were involved in and several tangential scandals including the Monica Lewinsky affair. Ray, a former Democrat, is now seeking the Republican nomination for U.S. Senator in New Jersey. Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Christie Whitman, former governor of New Jersey, told a Senate subcommittee yesterday Ray briefly told her about his interest to run while serving as independent counsel. Democrats want to know if Ray violated impartiality laws during his tenure. Get the Report:
