Sen. Maria Cantwell (D-Wash.) has accepted more money from lobbyist in the first half of 2001 than any other member of Congress, according to the Center for Responsive Politics.

The center said Cantwell received a little over $50,000, according to figures it obtained from the Federal Election Commission. Cantwell has a $4 million debt from her 2000 self-financed campaign during which she unseated tribal sovereignty foe Slade Gorton, a Republican.

Sen. Max Baucus (D-Mont.) took in the most money from political action committees. He received $740,436 from PACs, according to the center's figures.
