Norton barely makes the grade

MONDAY, DECEMBER 24, 2001 If Indian Country were to grade Secretary of Interior Gale Norton, would she get a big fat 'F' mark? Who knows, but some conservatives have rated her and she barely made passing. The Free Congress Foundation gave Norton a 'C' grade for her performance, reports Bill McAllister of the Denver Post. In his "Beltway Notebook" column, McAllister said the former Colorado Attorney General started off the year as one of the group's favorites. Elsewhere in Nortonland, she finally gave approval to a series of court reports by monitor Joseph S. Kieffer III. Her contempt trial will resume January 4, 2002. Get the Story:
