The Department of Interior is considering holding additional consultation sessions on a proposal to strip the Bureau of Indian Affairs of its trust duties and hand them to a new agency, a spokesperson said.

Tribal leaders have asked for additional meetings, saying the seven that have been scheduled are not enough. The first was held last week, the second is being held today in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Tribal leaders have said the Interior needs to hold one in all 12 BIA regions.
