In response to a hold placed on an Interior nominee, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has agreed to put off a proposal to extend duck hunting season.

Senators from northern states had put the hold on Steve Williams because the objected to the extension. The extension had been secured by southern lawmakers.

Fish and Wildlife now says it will put off the issue and convene a group at a later date to discuss it.

Williams already had his confirmation hearing. He is set to be confirmed by the full Senate.
