Emergency crews on Wednesday resumed work to try and rescue any survivors of the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon as the number of dead, still unknown, threatens to rise higher.

A minimum count by just a few of the hundreds of companies located at the WTC said they were missing 1,500 employees. Fire fighters said 350 of their own were dead along with dozens of police officers, transit workers and others.

Airlines and families are still releasing names of victims of the four hijacked flights. A reported 264 died on those flights.

An estimated 200 people have died at the Pentagon, where a fire was finally put out. Investigators are searching for the "black box" from the crashed plane amid the rubble.
