FRIDAY, AUGUST 10, 2001 Sen. Frank Murkowski's decision to delay whether he will run for Governor of Alaska is leading to other delays, say fellow Republicans. Potential candidates are waiting on Murkowski's decision. That means they are missing out on valuable fund-raising time. Murkowski is delaying a decision to focus more on opening up the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to oil and gas drilling. Former Chairman of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, he has introduced a pro-drilling bill. A bill being developed by Current committee leader Jeff Bingaman (D-N.M.) does not allow drilling. Get the Story:
