Minister made up Condit tale says FBI

TUESDAY, JULY 31, 2001 The FBI has determined that a California minister's allegations that his then 18-year-old daughter had an affair with Rep. Gary Condit (D-Calif.) were fabricated. Otis Thomas had told the FBI about the alleged affair after hearing about the case of Chandry Levy. Levy, a former government intern, has ties to Condit, whom authorities have questioned about her sudden disappearance. Thomas now says he made up the story to comfort Levy's parents. Thomas' account was widely reported after The Washington Post published it earlier this month. The story spread as Condit, 53, reportedly admitted to investigators that he had an extra-marital affair with Levy, 23. Get the Story:
