JUNE 6, 2001 With the Senate now in the hands of the Democrats, environmentalists are planning to put pressure on Senators to vote against J. Stephen Griles, President Bush's pick as Deputy Secretary of the Interior. But Griles' nomination has already made it out of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee. Enviromentalists would have to persuade all Democrats, even those who supported Griles in committee, to vote against him on the Senate floor. Get the Story:
