Campaign finance debate moves to House

MAY 2, 2001

Debate began Tuesday in the House of Representatives on the campaign finance reform bill which passed the Senate last month.

House Democrat leaders questioned if there were enough votes to support the Senate measure. Republicans have vowed to fight it.

The House in 1998 and 1999 passed reform bills but they weren't as far-reaching as the Senate one.
