Group holds sovereignty forum today

MAY 1, 2001 The First Americans Education Project (FAEP) of Washington has arranged a number of speakers for a forum on tribal sovereignty being held for Connecticut lawmakers in Hartford. The forum will focus on general historical and legal issues affecting tribes. Current state controversies on federal recognition and land-into-trust are being avoided, but FAEP director Russ Lehman said a representative from the Attorney General's office and from the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation have been invited to participate.
