Tribe readies for elections

APRIL 24, 2001 The Coeur d'Alene Tribe of Idaho will hold elections for tribal council in less than two weeks with five candidates running for the seven-member group, headed by one chairman. Two candidates are incumbents. They are Norma Peone and Richard Mullen. The rest are Chiarpah Matheson, a former tribal police officer, Bernadette "Bernie" LaSarte, a nurse,, and tribal member Tina Falcon. Various issues being discussed are drug use, cultural development, education and juvenile deliquency. Get the Story:
