MARCH 28, 2001 A taxpayer watchdog group on Tuesday gave Senator Daniel Inouye (D-Hawaii), Vice-Chariman of the Indian Affairs Committee, its "Porker of the Month" award, criticizing him for spending $742,000 on a Native Hawaiian culture and arts program. Citizens Against Government Waste said Inouye's per capita spending on Hawaii was $392. CAGW says this is 15 times higher than the average per capita spending of $25.50 throughout the country. The group also awarded Senator Ted Stevens (R-Alaska) the same honor, for his "whopping" $766 per capita spending. Relevant Links:
