JANUARY 31, 2001 Joined by long-time friend and supporter Senator Ben Nighthorse Campbell (R-Colo), the newly confirmed Secretary of Interior Gale Norton said attacks on her records and positions were distorted. "There were a great many misunderstandings about what my positions were. I think my positions have been fairly consistent over the last 20 years," said Norton in Campbell's office after yesterday's Senate vote. Norton will take her oath of office this morning.
