NOVEMBER 30, 2000 Harold Dean Salway, ousted as President of the Oglala Lakota Sioux Tribe of South Dakota, is seeking to remain in tribal politics and hopes to be named to the tribe's executive board. Salway is one of 11 people seeking the fifth position on the board, which is elected by the council. The position is described as an "all-around" person, helping out in emergencies and assisting in various programs. Salway lost to John Yellow Bird Steele in the tribe's elections this month.
