THURSDAY, MAY 2, 2002

Shareholders of Cook Inlet Region Inc. will attend the Alaska Native corporation's annual meeting next month to choose five members of the 15-seat board.

A group including former CEO Roy Huhndorf is challenging the current leadership. Although CIRI's newly released 2001 annual report shows $423 million in profits and a record $440 million in dividends, they say the numbers mask financial and management mistakes.

The meeting will be held June 1.
