FRIDAY, APRIL 5, 2002

President Bush on Thursday signed into law a bill to allow certain contract disputes on the Gila River Reservation in Arizona to be addressed in federal court.

The bill was sought by the tribe to assure others it could waive its sovereign immunity by including binding arbitration clauses in contracts. A Supreme Court case last term ruled such provisions provided a limited waiver.
