Penobscot Nation Gov. Barry Dana is supporting a study of a proposed tribal casino in Maine.

Dana says the study should be able to figure out whether the development is a good idea. Along with Passamaquoddy Tribe, the Penobscot Nation has proposed to build a $400 million to $600 million casino in southern Maine near the Massachusetts border.

The study is being sent to the full Maine Legislature for passage. A 17-member commission will be established, including a tribal representative.
