THURSDAY, MARCH 14, 2002

The Gila River Tribe today will unveil more detailed plans to host an Arizona Cardinals football stadium on its reservation.

The tribe is proposing a different site than the one previously suggested. The new location is closer to a resort hotel opening this fall, a move the tribe believes will make the offering more lucrative.

The tribe and the city of Mesa, which is having difficulties with Tempe over how development would occur, are the two finalists for the $350 million stadium. A site on the Fort McDowell Yavapai Reservation was chosen as a backup.
