Pequot golf course recommended

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 9, 2001 A consultant for the town of North Stonington has recommended a golf course proposed by the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation of Connecticut be approved. The 18-hole golf course and resort would be built on a piece of property the tribe owns in the town. The 900-acre site is not in trust. For the project to be built, the consultant says the tribe has to mitigate the impact on the environment. The site under question is located around a man-made lake. A number of artifacts and grave sites are also located on the property and the tribe says it will do its best to avoid and protect them. Get the Story:
