Pojoaque Pueblo Gov. Jacob Viarrial on Wednesday said his tribe will continue to fight gaming compacts that require sharing a portion of casino revenues with the state of New Mexico.

Viarrial has refused to agree to compacts that cap the slot-machine sharing rate to 8 percent. He is also challenging 1997 compacts that set the rate at 16 percent.

Other gaming tribes and pueblos have agreed to make $91 million in back payments but Pojoaque Pueblo and the Mescalero Apache Nation have refused. Attorney General Patricia Madrid said she will try to shut down the two casinos.
