Ariz. racetrack denied license

Citing a potentially troublesome past, the Arizona Department of Racing has denied a temporary license to a man who is barred from doing business in Indian casinos.

Jerry Simms had applied for a temporary license to run a $53 million race track. He is also applying for a permanent one.

Citing his questionable business deals, the Arizona Gaming Department in March denied Simms' application for off-track beting in tribal casinos.
