Campbell wants more buffalo coins

MONDAY, AUGUST 6, 2001 Upsettting some coin collectors, Senator Ben Nighthorse Campbell (R-Colo.) is calling for the US Mint to authoize 250,000 more copies of a commemorative silver dollar The dollar, based on the historic Buffalo nickel, was introdued last fall. The brainchild of Campbell, it sold out faster than any commemorative coin in the past 20 years. As a result, Campbell wants more copies printed. Collectors say that would ruin the worth of the current coins. Get the Story:
