Calif. tribes get gaming funds

TUESDAY, AUGUST 28, 2001 A total of 76 non-gaming tribes will finally receive money fellow tribes with casinos have put into a state fund. Checks totalling $22.5 million have been sent ou to the tribes. Seventy-six will receive $300,000 while three others will receive $200,000. Gaming tribes had been pushing the state to distribute the money. They contribute the funds under their compacts with the state. Get the Story:
