Funds approved to fight Pequot Tribe

TUESDAY, AUGUST 28, 2001 Residents of the Connecticut town of North Stonington last night approved spending $60,000 to try and force the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation to pay a disputed tax bill. The town has assessed a bill of $338,259 on 25 properties the tribe owns. The tribe has contested, saying the bill should only be $121,570. Get the Story:
