Mohegan Tribe to open new gas station

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 22, 2001 The Mohegan Tribe of Connecticut is planning on opening a second gas station to complement an already successful operation on the reservation. The station would be open next spring and would primarily serve patrons of the tribe's Mohegan Sun Casino. Patrons can use their casino "points" to purchase gas. The existing station pumps an average of 725,000 gallons of gas a month, according to published figures. With the second station, the figure is expected to double to 1.5 million gallons. The tribe pays federal and state taxes when it buys the gas. It then adds a 5-cent markup. Get the Story:
