The Menomine Nation of Wisconsin has dropped a proposal for an off-reservation casino in Kenosha.

The tribe had filed a land-into-trust application for the 98 acre plot of land. The application has since been withdrawn.

Gov. Scott McCallum (R), an opponent of expanded gaming, said he was pleased by the tribe's action.

In February, McCallum vetoed an off-reservation casino proposed by three Ojibwe tribes.

Under the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act (IGRA), a governor has the authority to veto an off-reservation casino if the Bureau of Indian Affairs approves it.
