A meeting on federal recognition and a potential Nipmuc Nation casino will be held in the Connecticut town of Woodstock on August 29.

Town leaders are inviting interested parties to discuss Indian issues. Attorney General Richard Blumenthal, who is suing the Department of Interior on federal recognition and trust lands, will attend, as will freshman Congressman Rob Simmons (R-Conn.).

The Nipmuc Nation wants to open a casino in the Massachusetts-Connecticut area. No specific location has been announced.

The tribe's federal status is on hold at the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
